Local MP Graham Stuart has welcomed the news that almost 8000 extra medical appointments took place at East Riding Community Hospital in Beverley in recent months.
Graham often hears from constituents that they want to access a medical appointment sooner and without needing to travel to Hull. He has had months of meetings and updates with the local NHS team to ensure more tests are taking place in Beverley for the people of Beverley, and that is what has and will continue to be delivered.
Between April 2023 and January 2024, 7992 additional tests took place at the hospital which included extra CT scans, MRI scans and X-Rays. The hard-working staff aim to build on this success by introducing eye appointments at the hospital in the coming months.
Graham will continue to make the case for more medical appointments for people across Beverley and Holderness. In January he visited the Lung Health Check Centre in Withernsea, where 3000 people were offered a free telephone assessment and scan to identify whether they have lung cancer.
Earlier this month, Graham met Andrea Leadsom, the Minister for Primary Care, to stress the need for more NHS dental checks throughout the area. He will provide an update on this in the coming weeks.
Graham Stuart commented: “People are right to expect medical appointments when they need it and close to where they live. That’s why I’ve made the case for extra medical appointments in Beverley and I am delighted that this is being delivered. I will continue to work with the local NHS board and Government ministers to ensure people across Beverley and Holderness are receiving the high-quality healthcare they deserve.”
